ROTARY CLUB OF IKORODU METROPOLITAN AT A GLANCE: BRIEF HISTORY ABOUT OUR CLUB

Club extension is one element of an effective club as being required by Rotary International. In the Rotary year with the theme: MANKIND IS OUR BUSSINESS, Rotary Club of Lagos, muted the sponsorship of club to complement her activities in humanitarian services using the recommended Rotary standard as stated in Rotary Constitution. The fulfilment of this idea led to initial discussion for the formation of a new club in Ikorodu and its environs by the proponents of our dear club. After extensive discussion and attainment of due process, the Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metropolitan was chartered on the 15th March, 2002.

The Club was chartered at Ikorodu Town Hall, with 31 members under the then District Governor, Charles O. Adebiyi and Rotarian Hon. Otunba (Dr) Abdul Fatai Olukoga as the Chartered President (CP). At charter, our club was 79th on roll in the club extension at the District. PDG Babatunde Ajayi (Late) was the then DGSR, while the RI President at charter was Rotarian Richard King.

Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metropolitan has been in existence for over twenty- one (21) years and has produced twenty-one (21) presidents with Imaginative President, Rotarian Olushola Williams, as the sitting president. Presently, the club is blessed with Sixteen (16) active Past Presidents. It is worth noting that the CP still maintains his active membership and leadership role.

As part of our desire to expand, Rotary Club of Ikorodu Metropolitan, through support from the District and Rotarians, within and outside the club, facilitated the formation and eventual charter of two new clubs- Rotary Club of Ikorodu Golden and Rotary Club of Igbogbo, in 2015 and 2018 respectively. The DGSRs were Rotn Kamaldeen Ibrahim-Adedeji and Rotn Ajani Olufunmi.

The Club's emblem is THE FAMOUS OGA STATUS – IKORODU OGA.

n other for the club to expand her membership strength, the club has moved her fellowship locations amongst strategic areas within Ikorodu Metropolis, while also changing the fellowship time, simultaneously. In this Rotary year, we have moved to AI Royal and Suit, Chinese Restaurant, 30, Shamusideen Jaiyesimi, Aga, Ikorodu. The fellowship time remains, every Saturday, 10.30 a.m. for 11.a.m.
