About

Hon. Otunba (Dr.) Fatai Olajide Babatunde Olukoga, a Paul Harris Fellow of the Rotary International is a retired Permanent Secretary with Lagos State Civil Service and also a Former Special Adviser to the governor of Lagos State on education.

Rotarian. Olukoga was born on the 27th of September, 1951, at No. 8 Olorogun Street, Isaleko, Lagos Island to the family of Late Pa. Sulaimon Adebambo Olukoga (a Rtd. Salesman with the defunct Michellin Tyres) of Itunmoja, Poyenwa compound and Late Alhaja Zainab Abeni Olukoga (nee Bakare) of Isele (a famous wool Textile merchant in Ereko & Martins Street, Lagos) at Eleku House, Ikorodu.

He had his Primary school at St. John's School Aroloya, Lagos, he attended his Secondary School at Ansar-U-Deen College Isolo where he had his West African School Certificate in 1966 - 1970

He worked briefly with Lagos State Ministry of Education and Social Community Development before travelling in 1971 to the United States of America for his advanced Level education at Malcolm X College, Chicago, Illinois. He graduated with Diploma in business and Applied science and went to Governors State University, Park Forest South, Illinois graduating in 1974 with B. A. (Social Cultural process) and MBA (Marketing/Industrial Relations) 1976.

At Governors State University, Otunba Olukoga was the first elected African-American Treasurer of the Student Union Government and later co-opted into aluminums Board of Governing Council of the University. He was awarded a PhD in Philosophy in Business/Public Administration and PhD in Political Science and International Relations by United University College, North Colorado, USA and Crescent University, Abeokuta, Ogun State Nigeria in 2001 and 2015 respectively.

Rot. Otunba Olukoga started his career with Metropolitan Life Insurance, Chicago, Illinois, USA as an accredited Life and Pension Underwriter having passed the professional exam in 1975. Thereafter, he gained employment at National Biscuit Company (NABISCO), Chicago, Illinois, USA as Sales & Marketing Representative.

In 1977, he left to work with ITT NIG LTD (INTERNATIONAL TELEPHONE AND TELEGRAPH) as Executive Trainee. In ITT, he rose to the position of Asst. Manager (Overseas Staff Development).

With the political crisis in 1979, Rot. Olukoga was retired, among others, as a relation to a UPN political stalwart. Late chief Obafemi Awolowo introduced Rot. Olukoga to Governor Jakande who then offered him an appointment at Lagos State Refuse Disposal (Now LAGOS STATE WATE MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY) as Assistant Manager Training.

He actively contributed to documents that upgraded LAWMA, into commercialization, thus, earned him a promotion as the first Assistant General Manager (Planning, Research and Statistics) and ultimately, Assistant General Manager, Commercial. It is worthy to note that his contribution was majorly responsible for improved LAWMA monthly revenue generation of about NGN20million from a meagre NGN5million.

In 1996, Rot. Olukoga transferred to the mainstream of Civil service as Assistant Director (Planning, Research & Statics) and then posted to General Service Bureau (now Public Service Office, PSO). He was afterwards promoted to Director (Finance and Administrator).

Rot. Hon. Otunba Fatai Olukoga received the prestigious award for “Marquis Who is Who” in the United State of America. This is award is limited to a few who possess professional integrity, demonstrate outstanding achievement in their respective fields and have made innumerable contributions to society as a whole 2022.

Rotn. Olukoga is a renowned philanthropist, author and businessman is married to Late Mulikat Adedoyin (Nee Onisiwo) who died April 2021 (May her Soul continue to Rest in Peace). The family is blessed with children. He plays lawn tennis, loves reading and photography. His contributions to the advancement of every community he has found himself make him a pride to his hometown - Ikorodu;

a national asset and a worthy Ambassador of Nigeria. He is indeed a rare gem.
