His Secondary education in 1966 at Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo, where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1970. Within the same year, he first worked briefly with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and Community Development and later travelled in search of the Golden Fleece to Malcolm X College, Chicago, Illinois, United State of America, where he obtained a diploma in Business and Applied Science in 1972. In 1973, he gained admission into Governors State University, Park Forest South, Illinois, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Social Cultural Process in 1974. While there, he exhibited sterling leadership qualities, which earned him several awards. Also, had MBA degree in Marketing and Industrial Relations in 1976.

He was later awarded PhD in Public Administration (Honoris Causa) by United University College, Denton, North Carolina USA in 2004.

Otunba Olukoga‘s dedication to service, exemplary leadership qualities and administrative competence have been recognized and acknowledged through various Awards and Commendations through out his exemplary career.

CP Otunba has authored the following books:

• Touch Of excellence ( Kudos to the Olukoga administration- silent revolution in council administration)
• An Enduring Success of Grassroots Government ( 23 July 1998 –27 May 1999).
• My commitment to service (selected speeches of Fatai Olukoga).

His commitment to the upliftment of social and religious ideals has earned him recognition by various organizations and enabled him to hold several positions of authority

He is married to Mulikat Adedoyin (Nee Onisiwo) with children.

CP Otunba is a national asset and a worthy Ambassador of Nigeria. He is indeed a rare gem.
