CHARTER PRESIDENT - OTUNBA FATAI OLAJIDE OLUKOGA (PHF)

On the 27th September, 1951, at Olorogun, Lagos Island, Oloye Abdulfatai Olajide Olukoga (PHF) was born to late Sulaimon Adebambo Olukoga, a famous Rtd sales manager with Michelin Tyres of Itunmoja quarters and Alhaja Zainab Abeni (Nee Bakare) of Isele quarters, Ikorodu, Lagos State. Both were natives of Ikorodu.

He attended primary education in 1957 at Saint John‘s School, Aroloya. His Secondary education in 1966 at Ansar-ud-deen College, Isolo, where he obtained the West Africa School Certificate in 1970. Within the same year, he first worked briefly with the Lagos State Ministry of Education and Community Development and later travelled in search of the Golden Fleece to Malcolm X College, Chicago, Illinois, United State of America, where he obtained a diploma in Business and Applied Science in 1972.

In 1973, he gained admission into Governors State University, Park Forest South, Illinois, where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Social Cultural Process in 1974. While there, he exhibited sterling leadership qualities, which earned him several awards. Also, had MBA degree in Marketing and Industrial Relations in 1976.

He was later awarded PhD in Public Administration (Honoris Causa) by United University College, Denton, North Carolina USA in 2004.

Otunba have several professional experiences amongst:

  • The Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and National Biscuit Company (NABISCO) both in Chicago.
  • ITT Nigeria Ltd where he worked as Management Trainee (September 1977-1978) and later as Assistant Manager (Staff Development) at the training center, Sogunle, Lagos (1978-1979).
  • He began his career with the Lagos State Public Service in November 1979 when he joined the Lagos State Refuse Disposal Board now Lagos State Waste Management Authority (LAWMA) as Assistant Training Manager and he rose to Principal Secretary, Director (Corporate Planning) and Assistant General Manager (Commercial).
  • He moved to the mainstream of Civil Service in July, 1996 as Assistant Director, (Planning, Research and Statistics) in the General Service Bureau (GSB) now Public Service Office (PSO).

He has served in different capacities including:

  • April 2010 - Appointed as a member of Gubernatorial Advisory Committee by his Excellency Governor of Lagos State.
  • Permanent Secretary - Ministry of Youth, Sports and Social Development (Feb. 2005 - May 28th 2007)
  • Finance and Administration Director, Ministry of Home Affairs and Cultural (April 2001 - May 2005)
  • Coordinator, Police College, Ikeja Relief Centre for the victims of the Bomb Explosion and Idi-Araba Communal Riots (Feb - March 2001)
  • Chairman, Panel of Enquiry into the alleged preparation of salaries for non-existing Staff of Lagos State Waste Management Authority.
  • Chairman, Chartered Institute of Taxation Students Registration Committee (CITN)
  • Chairman, Sub-Committee on Membership of Chartered Institute of Taxation Nigeria.

He is a member of the following organizations:

Olukoga has to his credit, published articles in different editions of the Lagos State Bureaucrat, a journal of the Lagos State Public Service on:

  • Hints on planning process (1996 edition)
  • Personal Income Tax Administration (1997 edition)
  • Planning for grassroots (Vo1. 6 No 1 Jan-June 2002)
  • He is a co-author of the book by Oladele Emmanuel on Personal Taxation in Nigeria.
  • He is the author of a book titled “MANAGING PEOPLE“ (2003)

As a chairman of Ojo local Government, he also authored the following books:

  • Touch Of excellence ( Kudos to the Olukoga administration- silent revolution in council administration)
  • An Enduring Success of Grassroots Government ( 23 July 1998 –27 May 1999).
  • My commitment to service (selected speeches of Fatai Olukoga).

Otunba Olukoga who retired as Permanent Secretary in Lagos State Civil Service in May 2007 is now the Chairman of Avalange Royal Insurance Brokers Limited and Director, Townserve Microfinance Bank Limited Ikorodu.

He is married to Mulikat Adedoyin (Nee Onisiwo) with children. He plays lawn tennis, loves reading and photography. His contributions to the advancement of every community he has found himself make him a pride to his hometown - Ikorodu, a national asset and a worthy Ambassador of Nigeria. He is indeed a rare gem
